All Welcome

Open to every family who values kindness, curiosity, and community

What makes us different

When Herzlia Kerem closed its doors, Southern Suburbs parents came together to build something new. Rimon is what happens when community, conviction, and great education meet.

Only Jewish Montessori south of the M3

25% of Cape Town's Jewish community lives in the Southern Suburbs, but until Rimon there was no Jewish preschool here. No more 40-minute school runs.

Montessori + Reggio Emilia

Two world-class pedagogies woven together. Child-led exploration meets project-based discovery, grounded in 43 years of teaching experience.

On the CJCC Campus

A shared campus with the Constantia Hebrew Congregation — where school, shul, and community breathe life into one another. A first of its kind.

An open and diverse community

Traditional, secular, interfaith — what matters is the desire to give your child roots and wings enveloped by a warm, nurturing Jewish community.

Follow the Child

Every child learns at their own pace, guided by curiosity not curriculum pressure.

Cultural Enrichment

Hebrew, festivals, values like kindness and tikkun olam — a window into rich traditions.

Hands-On Discovery

Montessori materials and nature-based learning spark real understanding.

Community Rooted

A parent-driven school built on relationships and belonging.

A pomegranate is full of seeds. So is every child.

Rimon means pomegranate — a fruit bursting with potential, beauty, and abundance. We believe every child arrives brimming with possibility, ready to unfold in their own beautiful way.

Our Jewish traditions blend meaningful cultural enrichment with Montessori and Reggio Emilia learning methodologies. Children learn through exploration, sensory play, and connection — developing independence, empathy, and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

Every family is welcome here. Whether your home is traditional, secular, or interfaith — what matters is the desire to give your child roots and wings enveloped by a warm, nurturing Jewish community.

An education that nurtures the whole child

Child-Led Learning

Montessori-prepared environments where children choose their work, build concentration, and develop at their own rhythm. Small classes ensure every child is truly seen.

Cultural Enrichment

Hebrew as a second language, Shabbat preparation, seasonal festivals, and values like kindness and giving back — experienced through story, song, baking, and celebration.

Garden & Nature School

Our vegetable garden and Constantia's leafy setting become living classrooms. Children plant, harvest, observe seasons, and connect deeply with the natural world.

Learning Support

On-site support for children who need a little extra help or a different approach. We meet every child where they are, with patience and expertise.

Values & Character

Kindness, respect, gratitude, and responsibility aren't add-ons — they're the foundation. Good values become lived practice through daily classroom culture.

Aftercare

Extended hours for families who need them. A relaxed, safe space for play, rest, and creative time after the school day ends.

Among the oaks of Constantia

Rimon Montessori sits on the Constantia Jewish Community Campus — a shared home for school and community centre alike. Surrounded by oak trees and mountain views, it's the kind of setting where childhood should unfold.

The Southern Suburbs deserves this

The end of the 40-minute school run

25% of Cape Town's Jewish community lives in the Southern Suburbs, but until now there was nowhere local to send the kids. Rimon is on your side of the M3.

Constantia is the perfect classroom

Leafy oaks, mountain views, and garden space that bigger schools in denser suburbs simply can't match. Nature-based learning needs nature — and we have it on our doorstep.

A neighbourhood school, not a franchise

Rimon is parent-founded and community-run. Your children grow up alongside their neighbours, building friendships that last because they live around the corner from each other.

Easy access from across the suburbs

Quick access from Tokai, Bergvliet, Meadowridge, Wynberg, Bishopscourt, and Claremont. Drop off on your way to work — this school fits your life.

Where learning feels like living

Morning

Arrival & Free Work

Children settle in and choose their Montessori work — practical life, sensorial, language, or maths activities at their own pace.

Mid-Morning

Circle & Cultural Time

Songs, stories, Hebrew, and seasonal learning. On Fridays we prepare for Shabbat together with challah baking and candle lighting.

Outdoors

Garden & Nature Time

Hands in the soil, feet on the grass. Our eco garden and outdoor spaces are where some of the deepest learning happens.

Afternoon

Creative & Rest

Art, music, movement, and quiet time. A gentle rhythm that respects each child's energy and need for both stimulation and calm.

Questions parents ask us

We welcome children from 6 months through Grade R, in intimate mixed-age classrooms that allow older children to mentor younger ones — a cornerstone of the Montessori approach.

Montessori education is child-centred, hands-on learning where children choose their own work within a carefully prepared environment. It develops independence, concentration, and a lifelong love of learning. We combine it with elements of the Reggio Emilia approach, which emphasises creativity, nature, and community.

Children learn Hebrew as a second language, prepare for Shabbat on Fridays (including challah baking), celebrate seasonal Jewish festivals, and explore universal values like kindness (chesed), repairing the world (tikkun olam), and gratitude. It's joyful and experiential, never dogmatic.

Very. We're a boutique school by design, which means your child receives genuine individual attention from their teacher. This is one of the key things that sets us apart from larger schools.

Yes. We offer extended hours for families who need them, providing a relaxed, safe space for play, rest, and creative time after the school day.

Rimon provides an excellent foundation for any primary school. Our children develop strong independence, literacy, numeracy, and social skills that prepare them well for schools across Cape Town, including Herzlia, Reddam, Bishops, Rhenish, SACS, and more.

Welcome

Your child starts their Rimon journey. We work closely with you through the transition.

Built by parents. Sustained by community.

Rimon was born from the determination of Southern Suburbs parents who wanted a beautiful, values-driven Montessori preschool in their own neighbourhood. Guided by experienced educators and community leaders, this school is what happens when people come together to create something better for their children.

This is more than a school. It is the beating heart of a community, and the foundation for its future.
